Oliver Malana
Oliver Malana was born in Dumagueti City, Negros oriental, Phillipines. In 1950, Oliver obtained a B.S. in Biology from the University of Sillman, Dumagueti City, and in 1953 he obtained a B.S. in Architecture.
Oliver got married to Mrs. Mercedes Malana thirty eight years ago, has five children and nine grand children.
In 1966, Oliver and his family were relocated to Canada by McCarter Malme and Partners, Architects and Planners. Oliver's first job in Canada involved designing the Vancouver Aquarium.
After many years living in Vancouver, Oliver became a Richmond resident in 1992.
Oliver always had an interest in painting, ever since he was a small kid, but he only was able to do it full time after his retirement in 1992.
Oliver is a member of The Federation of Canadian Artists, a member of The Community Arts Council of Richmond and a member of the Western Arts Circle, among other organizations.
Awards Obtained:2002 Award of Excellence-Federation of Canadian Artists; 2002 First Prize Winner - "Quay to Art-Paint In; 2000 and 1998: First Place "Golden Star Picture of the Year" Western Art Circle; 1999 Kit Thome Award "Golden Star Picture of the Year" Western Art Circle.
Oliver, with his very positive attitude, sets an example for all those who love the arts. He is always willing to help other and is very active in philamrophy by helping a great deal to the Cancer Society. We feel blessed to have such a talented artists as one of our members.
